OMG! Fox News Has Ties to Rauf!
Media Matters has uncovered more skulduggery by the nefarious, Satan-based, conservative news channel known as Fox. Or, in other words, they reprinted much of a story written by someone else and added emphasis in the way of “ominous” “quotes” and blatant misrepresentation of facts. Facts they’re reporting on the very same page.
Turns out, one of Fox News’ parent company’s shareholders is a Saudi Prince, Al-Waleed bin Talal. He owns 7% of News Corp, a publicly traded company. Here’s how Media Matters spins the story before actually presenting it.
According to a report by Yahoo! News’ John Cook, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal — the second-largest shareholder of Fox News’ parent company News Corp. — has deep funding ties to Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the “principal planner” of the Islamic community center in lower Manhattan.
“Deep funding ties.”
Now, from the story they’re reprinting
Indeed, as none other than Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post reported last May, the Kingdom Foundation, al-Waleed’s personal charity, has donated a total of $305,000 to Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow, a leadership and networking project sponsored jointly by two of Rauf’s organizations, the American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Initiative.
Basically, Talal’s charity and Rauf’s organizations both put money into a conference. Deep! Funding! Ties!
So, if you tipped a waitress, and “Bob” tipped a waitress, and then “Bob” said America has more blood on its hands than Al Qaeda, you are evil for speaking out against Bob!
And where did Yahoo! News get the story that Media Matters so fervently copied and pasted shared with the world? From the New York Post…another media source owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp!
AIEEEEEEEE! Run! It’s the DEVIL!!!!
Settle down, people.
Yes, sometimes Fox tries too hard to link Rauf with terrorism. While I obviously care if those ties exist, there is video of him saying the US is partly responsible for the 9/11 attacks. Now, there is audiotape of him saying the US is responsible for more Muslim deaths than al-Qaeda. Do we really need to come up with anything else?
And the fact that there are questionably scrupulous businessmen in bed together is a surprise to anyone how, exactly?
On “The Daily Show,” self righteous prick funny man Jon Stewart painted Fox as either stupid or … evil, for having such a shareholder. Also, everyone who opposes the mosque: still disingenuous and still racist.
“The Daily Show” runs on Comedy Central, which is owned by Viacom International, the DBA for MTV International, which is owned by Viacom. And Viacom, which is suing Google and YouTube for copyright infringement, has likened the case to “terrorism.” Terrorism on the part of … Viacom.
Jon Stewart works for terrorists! AIEEEEE! Head for the hills.
Look, I’m not a Fox employee. As a conservative, I get my news from many sources. Sometimes, I even watch MSNBC (yes, that’s me, Dylan Ratigan.) I have no compunction to agree with everything I see on Fox. Sometimes, they’re right on. Sometimes, I think they’re silly. And sometimes, they’re flat out wrong.
But blaming Fox because its owner has a shareholder? And misrepresenting the shareholder’s connection to a man being criticized repeatedly by Fox? Come on, folks. If News Corp was really that in bed with someone heavily involved with Rauf, do you think any of their subsidiaries would be mentioning it?
No. I didn’t think so.
And now, back to the real news.
(Also, Rauf is still evil.)
