Imam Feisal Rauf – Diplomat?
You may remember my mentioning Feisal Abdul Rauf in an earlier post. Rauf is the Imam behind the infamous Ground Zero Mosque Lower Manhattan community center. I, like many people in this country, look on that project unfavorably. Rauf is playing himself up as a moderate, seeking to build bridges between Islam and American society as a whole. Of course, he also believes we should live under Sharia law, blames the US for Osama bin Laden and once hired a man who stated “only the Jews” could have been behind 9/11. He’s a funny kind of moderate.
But wait, it just got a whole lot better.
According to the Corruption Chronicles, Rauf is now being sent to several Muslim countries to promote peace and understanding:
Sending Rauf on a diplomatic mission is especially contentious because he’s embroiled in a controversial multi million-dollar project to build a mosque at the 9/11 Ground Zero site. Rauf paid nearly $5 million in cash for the parcel—located steps away from where the World Trade Center once stood—that will eventually house the mosque and the money likely came from the Middle East as will the funding for the new structure.
The project has outraged survivors of 9/11 victims because Rauf has long refused to acknowledge the U.S. government’s classification of Hamas as a terrorist organization. He also believes that the U.S. and the west must acknowledge the harm they have done to Muslims before terrorism can end and that the west has to understand the terrorists’ point of view.
Tidbits of Rauf’s radical speeches and writings are listed in a conservative news publication that points out the work indicates that, rather than a moderate, peace-loving, assimilated immigrant, Rauf is really an Islamic ideologue and propagandist with an anti-American political agenda.
Excuse me for my right wing nutjobbery, but has this entire country gone bat guano insane? Sending someone like Rauf on a mission of peace to Muslim nations is like dedicating a memorial to 9/11 victims inside a community center run by America hating Islamic radicals. Oh, wait. That’s happening.
What’s the administration’s next move? Appointing Julian Assange to a position in the Department of Homeland Security? Co-opting the ACLU into the Justice Department? A black president speaking at the funeral of a former Ku Klux Klan member? Oh, damn.
Tolerance is a good thing. Tolerance of different cultures, different religions, different orientations: that’s one of this country’s greatest features. And Muslims who come to this country from other places have a great history of tolerating American society and laws. Damn, again!
No one is suggesting we start taking violent action against Muslims, even extremist ones. We have laws to deal with criminals, and we do expect those laws to be upheld. For instance, no peace officer or court in this country would think of siding with extremists over Americans practicing a Constitutional right to free speech. CRAP!!!
And, since the Supreme Court upheld Holder v. Humanitarian Law Project, anyone is forbidden from giving any sort of material support to known terrorist organizations. HOLY SH*T!!!!!
Perhaps this is why the Justice Department is forbidden from using the term “Islamic Terrorism.” I’m not going to go so far as to say they actively support it, but sending an anti-American Imam on a tour of Islamic states to build bridges, while meanwhile jumping on the “let’s condemn Israel” bandwagon kind of speaks for itself.
I wonder how much money Rauf is making off this trip, because the $100 Million Ground Zero Mosque Lower Manhattan community center isn’t paid for yet. Not only will the American taxpayer be footing the bill for Rauf to go abroad and spread his incendiary lies, but I bet we’ll be paying for much of the so-called Cordoba House, too.
Dear President Obama. I really, really hate you. But, unlike your “moderate” Muslim buddies, you have nothing to fear from me and my kind. Except, you know, the fact we’ll vote you out of office in 2012. You and all your terrorist loving cronies.
Oh… and this just in. My favorite part?
These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings. Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality.
Ha ha ha ha ha! This stuff practically writes itself. Now, I’m going to go cry.
